Setting the document root

The document root is the directory on the server where the web server looks for the files that are to be served to clients when they request a particular website. This can be edited within the control panel, allowing the easy changing of a website without adding and removing the domain.

  1. Login to your cp.purely.website account.
  2. Using the left menu, click Websites, then click on the website you wish to edit the document root for.
  3. Using either the file manager or FTP, create the new document root folder and upload you website files if required.
  4.  Using the top menu, click Domains, then click the 3 vertical dots and click Manage.
  5. Under the Document root header, click the pencil icon to edit the location.
  6. Enter your newly created document root directory and click Save.

That’s it, your websites files will now be served from the new directory you’ve specified.
